Arendai CEO Dr. Walter Buga Discussed AI, AMRs, and Digital Twins in Smart Manufacturing at IEEE World Forum on IoT 2024
OTTAWA, CANADA – November 12, 2024 – Arendai, a leader in AI-powered software solutions for industrial automation, highlighted today the participation of its CEO, Dr. Walter J. Buga, as a featured speaker on the Smart Manufacturing Industry Forum Panel at the recent IEEE 10th World Forum on IoT (WFIoT) 2024. The conference was held in Ottawa, Canada, from November 10-13, 2024.
The panel, titled “Smart Manufacturing,” took place during the morning session on November 13, from 11:30am to 1:00pm, and focused on smart and sustainable manufacturing through AI for broad applications in the industrial sector. Key topics included energy efficiency in smart factories and emerging technologies in logistics and supply chain, including AI for automation and productivity, Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs), and Digital Twins.
Dr. Buga shared insights drawn from Arendai’s experience in developing and deploying AI-driven robotics fleet management and orchestration solutions. His contribution specifically focused on the critical role of AMRs and the power of Digital Twin technology in optimizing intralogistics and overall factory productivity.
Discussions during the panel underscored the importance of scaling embedded and edge AI for automation and optimization, requiring robust computing resources and stringent security measures. Key themes explored by the panel included the challenges and opportunities of edge AI versus cloud implementations, the transformative potential of AI in optimizing energy consumption – marking energy efficiency as a vital future industry requirement – and the pivotal role of robotics and IoT in enhancing modern factory operations.
Reflecting on the event, Dr. Walter J. Buga, CEO of Arendai, stated, “The convergence of AI, IoT, and robotics is fundamentally reshaping the manufacturing landscape. Events like the IEEE World Forum on IoT are essential for collaborative discussion on how we harness these technologies, particularly AMRs and Digital Twins, to build smarter, more efficient, and sustainable factories. While technology advances rapidly, fostering collaboration and commitment across the industry remains the true foundation of innovation, a theme strongly echoed during our panel.”
Dr. Buga joined fellow panelists Rita Wouhaybi (Fellow AI, Solidigm, USA) and Artur Hanc (Cofounder & CEO, ElModis, Poland) in the insightful discussion. The session was moderated by Hassnaa Moustafa, Principal Engineer at Intel, USA, with Session Chair Wahab Almuhtadi, Professor at Algonquin College Ottawa and IEEE Canada representative.
The IEEE World Forum on IoT is a premier event bringing together experts from industry, academia, and government to discuss the latest advancements and applications in IoT technology.
